For those who bothered to come online to read the blog, thank you. At least you bothered to learn. Is it fair for me to say that some of you merely copied down the workings for the questions that I was going through without understanding WHY? It worries me... please look through the questions that you got it wrong... and understand how to solve the questions.

Jane

10days --> 1 bead
1 day --> 1/10 of the bead

Sharon

18 days --> 1 bead
1 day --> 1/18 of bead

Together (one after another) will take 14 days.

Do Guess-and-Check
If each takes 7 days, (7x 1/10) + (7 x 1/18) = 1 and 4/45 of the beads (NOT POSSIBLE)

If Jane takes 9 days and Sharon takes 5 days, (9 x 1/10) + (5 x 1/18) = 1 and 8/45 (NOT POSSIBLE)

If Jane takes 5 days and Sharon takes 9 days, (5 x 1/10) + (9 x 1/18) = 1 bead! (POSSIBLE)

Therefore, Jane took 5 days.
