ORAL PRACTICE TWO

It was a Wednesday afternoon. David and John had just completed their homework. They asked their mother, “ Mum, may we go downstairs to play soccer?” Their mother agreed after David and John had promised to be careful.
David met some of his friends at the void deck and they began playing happily. One of his friends was too excited. He kicked the ball so hard that it flew out of the void deck and onto the road. Without hesitation, John ran after the ball. He did not notice a car coming around the bend as he dashed onto the road. The motorist jammed on the brakes causing the car to skid. It screeched to a halt just centimetres away from John. The driver of the car scolded him for being so reckless. John was terrified and he began to cry. David and his friends quickly ran forward and apologised to the driver. They decided to stop playing and go home. Their mother was furious when David told her what had happened. They were not allowed to play soccer for two weeks.
