    Author: Kathleen Duey

Favourite Character: Margret. Margret is a young orphan girl whose sheer determination to get a horse of her own astounds me.

Most memorable scene: Although Margret found Flynn's real owner and had to return him, she still had a horse to call her own as Flynn's owner gave her his sister(Flynn's)in exchange for Flynn.

    Rating: *5/5* [Must read]

P.S. Hope you don't mind if I tell you a little about it's plot:).

Plot: In 1875, young Margret lives together with her older sister, Libby. Both who are orphans and with no place to live, they wander from house to house, looking for a place to live. But being over protective for her sister, Margret finds herself moving from place to place with her older sister with no stability in her life. But Margret grows fond of the kind Mrs Fredriksen who they are now living with, and is unwilling to listen to her sister about leaving her. But when a tornado brings Margret an injured horse, which she names Flynn, life for Margeret changes and she finds herself worrying about the horse's real owner, and spending more time with Flynn rather than Margret. Nursing him back to health, Margret teaches herself to ride Flynn and prepare him for the upcoming horse race which she heard about from a new found friend. Now,all Margret yearns is to have a stable life and a place to call home. After winning the race and managing to convince Libby to stay with Mrs Fredriksen, her happiness quickly turns into sorrow as she finds her beloved Flynn's real owner. This might be the last time she would ever see Flynn again...

  33. Title: The Cleopatra Curse ( another bpook by Katherine Roberts)( can you see that all the books written by Katherine are talking about the Seven Wonders of the World?)
Book Review 2: The Statue of Zeus
Book Review 3: The Great Pyramid at Giza
Book Review 5:The Temple of Artemis at Ephesos

This book is about an adolescent called Zeuxis.
He takes care of the Lighthouse (or the Pharos) in Alexandria. (That is the wonder). One day , when he was given permission to clean up a chariot wreck at the Hippodrome (a race track for chariot-racing) he discovers a curse ( later you will find out the curse meant) aimed at the queen, Cleopatra.:
Take the power of the false Queen Cleopatra -
Make her horses fall and her chariots crash,
Take her royal throne and her stolen gold,
Remove her name from the coins of this land, Take those she loves away from her,
Then send your serpent to end her wretched life.

Zeuxis took this curse (he did not know what he meant) to a witch called Lady Wernero, who has a granddaughter called Ahwere.
Lady Wernero was so scared of the curse that she hid for Ahwere or Zeuxis to see.
Zeuxis had a craving for chariot-racing. Queen Cleopatra or her brother, Prince Ptolemy (he was the culprit for the curse) would not let him race. But he managed to race twice in the end.

My favourite characters are Zeuxis and Ahwere.

My favourite scene how Prince Ptolemy got punished.(He was beastly to Zeuxis)

  38. Don't mind if I told you all 'bout this next book... remember Skulduggery Pleasant.

Well this is the next book
Skulduggery Pleasant ; Playing with fire

By: Derek Landy ( Obviously )
    My favourite characters are obviously:
Skulduggery Pleasant, Valkyrie Cain(Stephanie Edgley if you did read the previous book) and Tanith Low.

I would tell you all a bit of the story.
With Serpine( You would know if you read the previous book ) dead, the world is safe once more.At least, that is what Valkyrie and Skulduggery think, untill the notorious Baron Vengeous makes a bloody escape from prison, and dead bodies and vampires start showing up all over Ireland.

With Baron Vengeous after the deadly armour of Lord Vile, and pretty much everyone out to kill Valkyrie, the daring detective duo face their biggest challenge yet. But little does Valkyrie know, the greatest threat might be just a little closer to home than she thought....?

The most memorable scene( favourite scene ) is when Valkyrie, Skulduggery, Tanith, Mr Bliss ( you would know him well if you read the previous book ),Cleavers and someone else( read and you know )fought an epic battle against the Grotesquery( read and you know ) and Vengeos. There is also a little suprise at who the traitor is and you might want to read the next book. "Happy" reading... Mwuahahaha

I would give it a rating 5/5. ( Must READ!!!)

  40. Title: Light as feather, Stiff as board

Summary: A group of children were at the playground playing a silly game. The children would gather on one of the lawns, and they will select a victim. Sharon insisted Julie to play that game with her. Kate, kneeling by Todd’s head, started the game. She would say Light as a feather, stiff as a board. Others would repeat the phrase slowly Todd started to rise and everyone remained still as if they could not believe they had succeeded. At first Sharon thought it was a trick of the moonlight. But Todd floated slowly above the outstretch arms. Everyone just stared at his shadow until he was out of sight.

Favorite words/phrases: light as a feather, stiff as a board, barely a smudged dot, far over their head shivered as the night grew cooler

    Rating: 4/5

  41. Title: Duma Key

    Author: Stephen King

About: This story is about a man named Edgar Freemantle who lost his arm in an accident. This Edgar became mad, and started having “gaps”, a gap of what he did. His doctor, Xander Kramen, recommended him to go somewhere far away, stay there for a year and then come back. Edgar chose Duma Key.

On Duma Key, Edgar starts to draw. Not like a normal artist but like a mad person. In the one year in the book he spends in Duma Key, he paints a hundred pictures, and many sketches. There is a woman, the owner of Duma Key, who tells Edgar to sell his pictures, and never leave any in his cottage. When he did sell some of his paintings, the person who bought his painting died, or at least died after killing another person. Edgar wanted the madness to stop, and found out that a doll had caused all the havoc.

    A doll named Perse.

Elizabeth, the owner of Duma Key, died of an unknown reason, and Edgar, with his new friends Wireman and Jake, searched for Perse, to stop her (Perse could not be destroyed, but only put to sleep). When the mystery was solved, Perse, being weak to pure water, was put to sleep in a torchlight which was in a silver box filled with pure water which was dropped to the lowest part of a lake, measuring 120 feet low.

Recommendation: I don’t recommend this to other pupils as it is very weird, disgusting and have a lot of bad things in it.

If you have any questions about the book, please e-mail me.
