Oral 3

John was nervous. It was his first time participating in a race and he really hopes to get that shiny trophy for his mother as a Mother's Day present. He glanced around him, biting his lips as the rapid fluttering of his heart rhythm echoed in his ears. All the other competitors appeared composed and ready to run. “How can I win them?” John thought to himself in uncertainty.

“Bang!" the sound of the pistol reverberated through the air. Lost in his thoughts, John delayed the start of his race by two seconds. He watched in vain as the other competitors dashed past him in quick motions. Gathering himself together, he sprinted forward, telling himself repeatedly, “I must win! I must win! I must win!”
